When the Insider debuted in February of 2000, the introductory editorial explained that it was dedicated to “digging beneath the hype, the spin, and the underlying data to analyze the promise of HIV/AIDS research—or lack thereof.” We could not have put the hype and spin in perspective without the expert insight of our medical reviewers, who generously extended themselves, often under tight deadlines. We are particularly indebted to Drs. Howard Grossman and Keith Henry for their years of helpful feedback. Our translators were also committed to providing our information to a non-English speaking public, and we thank them for the services they provided, sometimes at reduced rates. Lastly, we thank HIV Plus and Impacto! These publications were the vehicles for the print editions of the newsletter.
